Window displays - and this is one, albeit heavily processed - fascinate me. This bikini-clad mannequin for the Ann Summers shop on Southend High Street is particularly blunt in getting the consumerist message across.
I wanted to make a comment on how "art" is just a commodity like everything else, and I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out.
I'm pretty bored of seeing lazy "sex sells" comments on the flickr streams of anyone who posts nude or semi-nude shots, particularly when the nudes have been done tastefully or with a bit of humour. Do the posters of such comments think they are being clever or original? Do they think the creators of nude art aren't perfectly aware of what they are doing?
Whatever, here's my contribution to the never-ending debate. I hope you like it as much as I do.
I'm chuffed with how the texture I applied gave the mannequin the look of a Grecian statue.
